무관합니다. 인문·사회, 공학, 자연과학 등 다양한 배경의 학생이 함께 공부하고 있습니다. 필요한 지식은 대학원 수업에서 처음부터 배웁니다. 오히려 서로 다른 배경이 연구의 출발점이 되는 경우가 많습니다.

It does not matter. Students here come from the humanities, social sciences, engineering, and the natural sciences. Everything you need is taught from the ground up in our graduate courses, and a different background is often where a research question starts.

괜찮습니다. 대부분의 학생이 입학 후 수업과 세미나를 거치며 주제를 좁혀 갑니다. 지금 필요한 것은 확정된 주제가 아니라 파고들고 싶은 질문입니다.

That is fine. Most students narrow their topic during their first terms, through coursework and the seminar series. What we look for is not a finished topic but a question you want to dig into.

모든 수업은 한국어로 진행합니다. 다만 읽는 논문은 국제 학술지의 영문 논문이므로, 영문 독해는 꾸준히 연습해 두시면 좋습니다.

All courses are taught in Korean. The readings, however, are English-language articles from international journals, so it helps to keep practising academic reading in English.

수업 조교 장학금은 등록금을 면제하며, BK21 장학금 수혜자는 매 학기 선발합니다. 진행 중인 연구과제에 연구보조원으로 참여하는 방법도 있습니다. 금액과 신청 요건은 학기마다 달라지므로 일반대학원 장학 안내를 함께 확인해 주시기 바랍니다.

A teaching assistantship waives tuition, and BK21 stipends are awarded each semester. Students can also join funded research projects as research assistants. Amounts and eligibility change from semester to semester, so please also check the Graduate School's funding pages.

석사과정에는 재직 중 학업을 병행한 사례가 있으나, 교과목이 주간에 개설되므로 일정 조율이 필요합니다. 박사과정의 경우 연구에 전념하는 전일제 학업을 권합니다.

Some master's students have done so, but classes meet during the day, so it takes arranging. For the doctoral program we recommend full-time study.

연구 관심 분야가 좁혀지면서 자연스럽게 정해집니다. 지원 전에 관심 분야가 가까운 교수님께 메일로 먼저 문의하셔도 좋습니다.

It follows from your research interests as they take shape. You are also welcome to write to a faculty member whose work is close to yours before you apply.
